When? Throughout July. 8-30am-3.30 pm.

Where? Most activities will be at Surf Canyon, 3728 Cross Creek Road, Malibu, 90625.

Who? Ages 4-10. Our camp mentor is Kayla Torrey.

Kayla grew up in the Santa Monica mountains, spending much of their childhood outside, camping, hiking and just playing in the dirt- developing a close relationship with the earth and her inhabitants. She has worked in the nonprofit world since the age of 16 and is deeply committed to providing access to permaculture and green space to all children.

In 2019 Kayla received her PDC from The Findhorn Foundation. She received her BA from Eugene Lang College of Liberal Arts at The New School in 2022. During this time she began teaching sustainable design and gardening in schools across New York City with Beyond Organic Design (BOD). Since then Kayla has worked as an education coordinator, designing garden-based curriculum for schools and camps in Florida and New York. She has spent time teaching permaculture at local middle school Topanga Mountain School and volunteers and teaches compost stewardship with Full Circle Compost (FCC). As an educator, Kayla’s goal is to provide the space for students to build stewardship and solution-lead thinking skills through curiosity, and engagement with our biodiverse community. Depending on numbers there will also be a support mentor (TBC).

Guest teachers include Anne Marie (The Way We Live- Sustainable Studio). Farmer Alex Weiser. Brigitte London (Animal care). Amy Smyth (Photographer & herbalist). Daniel George (Ceramist & Painter). Chef Thomas Drury (Cooking for the planet).
